Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. I'm glad we have a way to make it fun!
DeleteLove the bling! How long will she have the demo version before getting the real thing?
ReplyDeleteThanks Melyssa. We love the bling too. We started collecting items for the bling basket ahead of time. The pods can also be painted, so we have plans to add finger nail polish and paint pens to the basket.
DeleteMichael and I will go to the next education class on Monday May 6. We *think* we'll be taking it home that day. However, the clinic is giving us some resistance. So, I'm not entirely sure how it's all going to go down. I need to call the rep again today, and see where things stand.
The hope is that we'll take her with us Monday and we'll put it on her there.
There's a whole'nuther blog post here, but we were given verbal approval for the CGM, or continuous glucose monitor a MONTH ago, but the doctors signature was cut off of the fax she sent to the rep for the Certificate of Medical Necessity, and despite repeat requests, she hasn't resent it. NOW the clinic is telling us they won't initiate both devices at the same time, which is extremely frustrating, since, if they'd gotten her started on the CGM when they said they would, we wouldn't BE initiating both devices at the same time.
Thanks for your comment!
This is great! Love the photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna!
DeleteAhh I love how she decorated it!! It's so pretty! What a great photo essay too! I hope everything is going well with it and with the new CGM!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's going great! Tomorrow is our first sensor change. I'm sure it will go well. She was a bit anxious about the first insertion. In fact, I think she got herself worked up over the anticipation. The tears started before we even did it, but surely with practice that will get better. Plus we'll relax, and she'll sense that and begin to relax too. I'm sure it hurts, but I don't think it hurts much. She complained once or twice about little tweaks the first days she wore it, but she tells us now that she hardly feels the Dexcom sensor and transmitter. We have certainly valued the added info! There's so much you can't see with just a few data points from finger sticks throughout the day. Also, the CGM seems to have come along at a good time, because her insulin sensitivity and needs seem to be changing. So, all in all, yes! It's going well!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting thanks. I believe there's even more that could be on there! keep it up research paper for me
